The Scouts and Beavers are hiking from Avebury to Pewsey on the 11th July followed by an open to all small Fete at 4pm at Pewsey Scout Hut
Scouts full distance 22km Cubs Half distance 11km and Beavers 6KM, this will be followed by a BBQ,Tombola,Cake sale, a chance to soak a leader in the stocks and other fete like activities open to all.
They are raising funds to help maintain the Hall and boost their Group funds which are currently struggling, The Hall needs maintenance and some upgrades – emergency lighting etc. The Group funds also go towards the programme with which they provide their young people with skills for life – anything from lighting a fire with flint and steel to flying in a Glider, or from ironing to abseiling.
Sadly the pandemic started to burn through their reserve funds, with running costs of the hall and no income, followed by the cost of living crisis they are now actively trying to regain a reserve pot and this hike and activities is part of their recovery plan.
The young people are from various backgrounds from across The Vale of Pewsey and surrounding area.
Please help them give our Beavers,Cubs,Scouts and young Leaders the best start in life’s journey.
If you would like to donate, then please go to their Crowdfunded page – https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/1stpewsey – every donation is gratefully received!
