Woodborough Yard is an ideal setting off point for walking in the Vale of Pewsey – you are just south of Honeystreet and Alton Barnes (home of one of the Wiltshire White Horses and the Pewsey Downs National Nature Reserve) and you are close to the Kennet & Avon Canal. There are plenty of footpaths in the area and you can walk from Woodborough to Alton Barnes, along the Canal and then walk up to the top of Woodborough Hill for fantastic views of the Vale of Pewsey on your return.
We have a lovely Woodborough walk which you can download here.
About half a mile to the east of Woodborough Yard is Swanborough Tump – here in the year 871, the future King Alfred the Great met his elder brother King Aethelred I on their way to fight the invading Danes.
